Anyone know if there is a problem removing the cabin air filer and leaving it out on a 2017 Cruze?

The "problem" would be if your blower motor, motor controller, HVAC actuators ors doors failed due to debris in the HVAC assembly it wouldn't be covered under warranty. Other than that, and no filtration, nope, no problem. Cars went without cabin filters for decades.

It can lead to crap accumulating in the blower fan and rotting out the AC evaporator, as was common on lots of 90's cars without the filters.

If you don't plan to keep the car more than 5 years, I guess it's just the next person's problem.
