Sorry to hear about your troubles. The fire recall fix sounds like it's going to be another disaster for the rest of us when our turn comes to get it done. At any rate, I am not quite sure how Carfax works, but I THINK the only way information gets to Carfax is IF it is reported. I don't think it appears there automatically when something happens. Also, if the car was damaged in transit BEFORE it was registered, I don't think Carfax will help you at all. I would take it to a top notch repair shop to be inspected. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply fellas.

Fastdriver, your point seems logical, that perhaps any incidents during transit or while in a dealers possession prior to being sold, might no be reported. I do know that just by going to Carfax and running a free report, it shows 6 records on file.
I LOOKED UP MY 2004 CHEVY AVEO TOO AND IT SAYS 20 RECORDS! As far as I can recall, there was ONE recall for a twisted rear seatbelt back when I first bought it in 2004. Last summer, my cousin was driving the car on a really bad, rainy day and someone was backing out of their driveway as he was driving by and scraped the side of the car. That is all that has EVER happened to the car. I have NO clue what the other 18 reports are about, but I'm not about to spend any money to find out. I have all my service records. However, I am curious what the other 18 are. I'll have to see how I can find out without paying.
