I have a 2011 Cruze LT and when I turn the key to the position one before starting it, the check engine light comes on. However, when I start the car it goes off. How could the check engine light be on without the car being started? Is this a problem? I'm fairly new to driving/cars and have never seen this before. Any help would be appreciated!

Not a problem.....that is a light check....proves it is functioning before you start the car, same as the other warning lamps.

Spend some quality time with the owners manual....this car has many things that you should become familiar with.
