Heres a couple pics and I can"t tell if theres anything there, I sure don't see a nipple of any type. Bad thing is I broke the hose taking it off. So now I did it.

I believe you have to take a q-tip and clean straight down, your looking for a orange color tit
How did the hose break and could it be avoided ?
Do what KENSTV says and shine a light while taking the picture... thats what I had to do. As for hose, read this.

Was this posted in Gen2 by mistake? I'm not sure as the Gen2 is the same as Gen1 as far as the orange checkvalve.
Yep I posted in Gen 2 by mistake, to not break hose I guess would be to take it out of clips to the left. That thing was not easy pulling off and when it did it flew up and snapped past the first clamp.
I don't see anything in yours, but you might need a flashlight or Q-tip to clean it and make sure.

I think the dealer broke mine, because they replaced it too. It was brittle after just 4 years, but I managed to get the clip off and then wiggle the hose off without breaking it somehow.

They are brittle even when new.
