Well its been two months since my 2014 Cruze Diesel has been in the shop. I am still fighting with GM. All I want is them to start telling me the truth about the part. Its the separator that went out on my car. It seems all they keep telling me that they will have a update on a future date. This has been happening ever since taking my car in for the repair. They can't just give me a direct answer on why the part is taking so long to ship. All one ask is why can't they just face the music and tell me what is going on? Tell me why its so hard to get the part. It seems that I am just talking to invisable people and no one wants to give a direct answer. Why can't they just say why the part is not available or why its being held up. All I can say I have lost all trust and respect for the GM brand. No wonder they went broke and had to help from us tax payers. They just don't care about their customers.
When parts are not available it might be an indication a redesigned part is being made since a problem was found with the existing part number. This would significantly lengthen the time it takes to get a new part.
Since the diesel is a first year car & very low production I suspect the majority of parts are going into new cars.
Have you been without your car for 2 months? that would qualify for my states lemon law & I'm sure many others.
By separator, do they mean the fuel filter? Because the fuel-water separator is integrated with the fuel filter. They should be readily available and list at $120, although many people have obtained them as low as $84.
It sounds to me like the dealer is not following proper procedure with GM and thereby preventing your part from being released. They must coordinate all CTD warranty repairs through GM Tech Center, and if they do not, they will not receive parts, even if the part is readily available. It sounds like this is the problem to me. It might be worth checking if they have followed this procedure for your repair.
Private Message Chevy Customer Support here on CruzeTalk and give them your VIN and dealership information. Also let them know what's going on. I bet you have your car back inside a week. Your dealership isn't following the procedure GM has for getting warranty parts for the Cruze CDT.
