That is simply not true for 99% of the country, doesn't matter if you buy top tier, another name brand, or a name name a block away. For 87 octane the price is never more than a few cents difference, in each given locality. Drive 20miles in any direction you might see a 20cent difference but I bet most top tier are the same price there too.Top Tier gasoline around me easily runs $0.15-$0.20 higher than non-Top Tier fuel.
There is always a few stations that overcharge & change prices later than others, I suspect that is what you are seeing.
I always check out local pricing before filling my tank & have not paid more for top tier gas, ever.
