Clear coating tail lights

So I spray tinted my taillights and they turned out really good I just don't like how flat they look so I'm going to clear coat them. I taped off the reverse lights when I tinted them. Do you guys think I should tape them off again for the clear coat? Or won't it matter because its clear on clear? I just don't want to go through all that work of taping them off again if it won't make a difference. Thanks guys.

wet sand, wet sand, wet sand. I tinted, lightly, my tails and cleared them as well. Another thing you might want to consider is a buff after they are cleared. I used Meguiar's Plastx and their buff wheel. They turned out great. Just be patient and don't rush and you'll do fine.
