2013 Cruze 1.4L turbo. Coolant is boiling out of reservoir when running. The gauge never shows any indication of getting too hot. Thermostat is new, new reservoir tank and cap. Not leaking any coolant anywhere, only when it boils over. Passenger side going into the radiator the hose feels cold, driver side of the radiator hose is really hot. Compression check was good, cylinder leak down test was good. I’ve vented the coolant system properly also, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The gauge is almost worthless. There's a place in the information where you can see the actual temp, on 2012 anyway. The gauge stays one notch below half from about 180-185 all the way to high 230s. The fan will run if the AC is on, and I believe it runs if you have defrost on. If AC is not on, the fan will kick on at 235. Somewhere around 240-245 you'll get a message that "AC is off due to high temp".

You need a way to get more info out of the car. The ultra gauge is convenient to leave hooked up all the time and you can make your own alarms such as high temp, but torque app have more information available.

Stock thermostat is about 225. You can use the guts out of a Volt thermostat which is about 180, but this won't solve your problem, just mask it/treat symptoms.

Edit
Passenger side is coming out of the radiator, drivers side is going in. I think your water is not flowing enough. Maybe clogged radiator. Maybe broken fins on the water pump if that happens to these cars...

Any gunk or any foreign material in the coolant? Mixed dexcool and old style green coolant?
/Edit

The gauge just started to move up here, at 240.

Pressure test the sytem and the cap. Sounds that system is under the cap pressure of 20psi. If the system is not pressurized correctly it will lower the boiling point temp.

I was leaning towards the coolant not flowing properly also. I plan on pulling the radiator and seeing if I can’t get it rodded out. I’ll make sure to post an update, I’ve seen many forums with similar issues and not many have posted what fixed their issue. Thanks again.

Welcome Aboard!(y)

Don't forget to introduce yourself and your Cruze here.

Make sure you have completely bled the system, you may have air bubbles trapped in it.

Are you sure it's boiling and not air bubbling from a bad head gasket?
It only does it when it gets up to normal operating temp (one dash below 50% on the temp gauge) and it has to run at that temp for around 3-5 minutes until I see it boil. I’ve done a compression check and cylinder leak down test which are both good. I’ve bled the system best I can from watching multiple videos. I’m leaning on a flow issue with the culprit being the radiator or water pump.

Hi, friend.

The problem that your chevy has already happened to me... and it's easy to solve. cooling system has air and that is why the passenger side hose is cold and the driver side hose is very hot.
you only have to remove the air that the system has and you have to do it in the following way: you must loosen the screw on the upper part of the thermostat and when you do it you will hear the air come out, you must wait until it pours a little coolant and with that is enough, then you tighten the thermostat screw again and start the car and wait for the thermostat to open. You will notice when you open the thermostat that the hose on the passenger side will get hot and the radiator will get hot.
