I'm talking about this fitting here:

That goes onto the end of this:

The fitting above is threaded both inside and out and the hose/tube end is smooth. Are you missing a piece?

Interesting. I will be under the hood today so I will take a peek myself to see. I thought for sure it was a hidden clip that could be removed with a pick.
