He says that his AC stops cooling when the temp gets above 40 degrees C (~104 F) and there's noticeable humidity. He won't take it to the dealer, because they charge too much and want ot hold his car for like a week.

He took it to a third-party mechanic, who told him there were not coolant leaks and the system didn't need a recharge so he thinks that the OP would have to replace the whole compressor.

I'm wondering if maybe there's a sensor problem, but I am not familiar with these systems...
