Title says it all. For what it's worth, they are reporting reliability of 'average' for 2012 models. :eusa_clap:

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/chevrolet/cruze/eco-4-cyl.htm (subscription required)

Squeaks/Rattles, Body Hardware, and Audio System were the only areas that have a 'very good' as opposed to 'excellent' reliability rating.

CR is also reporting that 2012 Cruze owners with the turbo 4 have the 3rd highest owner satisfaction rating in the small car category-- just below the Jetta TDI and Mazda3 Skyactiv (1 point separating each). Non turbo owners are significantly less satisfied, slotting just below average satisfaction.

What's not very surprising is that owner satisfaction for the Civic, Jetta 4 and 5 cylinders, and Nissan Versa is abysmal.

Not surprising that the 2012's were higher in owner satisfaction after the changes GM made to them.

So CR finally got the word that there are a lot of changes between 2011 & 2012.

Too bad 2012 models are no longer available...

Way to go CR. One day you say there isn't a purpose to testing the 2012 as it will be the same as the 2011 model, and next you say 2012 is much better. They haven't regained any credibility in my book.

CR is just another source for opinions. In many of their articles, tend to compare a very expensive with an inexpensive item, but don't take that into account in their overall scores.

I miss the old days of CR when it read more like a technical journal. It was way more interesting, and built some measure of credibility around how their ratings were derived. Today, I think they're a good resource, but I question some of the conclusions they come to. And disagree with them half the time. I find myself feeling the same way about most modern publications...too much eye candy and emotion baiting, not enough substance. At the end of the day, I buy what I like and like what I buy. Or I get rid of it and move on.

Anybody know when and if CR or any other auto magazine will feature a article or section on the 2013 Chevy Cruze?!
I'm doubting anytime soon. They tested the 2011 model, and they don't usually test a model for mid-cycle updates. Well, unless everybody else comes out with updated cars and renders their testing results moot.

Were there any significant changes from '12 to '13? I know they made a lot of changes or fixes from '11 to '12 but other than the new radio and a few safety things, what changed for the '13s?
My Cruze Diesel was built in July 2012 and is called MY13 model. Does this make it a 2012 or 2013 model?

Different countries are weird about this. It is whatever it says on your registration card or insurance. Some other countries do go by the year that the car was built - so, being and Oct 2011 model, mine would be considered a 2011 model elsewhere.

Our 2013 models got an updated interior with a touchscreen radio standard.

I could write one if GM sends me a 2013 model to review...

I sent an email out to my contact to see if they have one available.

I don't know what monkeys CR employs, but they're functionally retarded.

Take this quote from the article on the new vette.

"Chevrolet is claiming that 0-60 mph sprints will be at a rocket-like sub-4 seconds—blazingly quick. In a way, I'm not sure this is progress. As I've experienced in numerous Corvettes over time, quicker just means the fun is over sooner in the real world."

What is a Vette about? SPEED. More is better you elderly prius driving tree hugger.

He also likens the new Vettes fuel economy (which is class leading) to being "the skinniest elephant". Are you stupid? It's the most fuel efficient 450+hp car available, who cares if the number isn't that great? You want economy buy a Cruze, not a rocket.

My 750cc bike gets lower fuel economy than my Cruze, but do you really think that matters when i'm on the bike (see avatar)? For some vehicles it's about smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon.

Idiot.

haha, nice! Maybe they will. By the way, weren't you supposed to be reviewing a loaded 2012 LTZ or something like that?

Kinda off topic, but I was wondering since you have a few connects now with chevy, if you could find a definite answer as to if the current 2013 Cruze's have or do not have the guidance lines features on the back-up camera? I have been told both yes and no and that yes only if the new safety package is partnered with the mylink and backup camera. Others have said they have these packages in their ltz or other trim level 2013 cruze and yet they dont have the option to turn on the backup camera guidance lines.

One fellow member has stated that in the manual it states that your cruze "may" be equipped with the option for turning on the backup camera guidance lines, so exactly what does that mean? Is this "may" and mention of guidance lines language just in the manuals now because they will be the same manuals that the future refreshed 2014 cruzes will have and that hose cruzes will actually have this guidance line feature?

I do have the pictures, but haven't had a chance to actually write the review. Since I was given the car, I've had two orders come in for sub boxes, my father in law has been admitted to the hospital (leaving me to visit his clients on weekends and after hours to get work done for his IT business), and my Cruze got rear ended, which resulted in me spending my entire weekend fixing broken stuff on my 95 Regal so I can use it to drive to work and back till the Cruze is fixed.

No worries, the article is coming...

I'm not sure about the backup guidance lines. This is the first time I've heard of that feature.

Yeah, you certainly have alot on your plate but certainly looking forward to the review! Yeah, whatever you can find out about the guidance lines would be great. Thanks again!
