Sales for the Chevrolet Cruze are climbing and, for the first time, it outsold the Ford Focus and Nissan Sentra last month.

Retail sales of Chevrolet cars increased 33 percent over January 2010, as the launch of the all-new Cruze compact continued to gain momentum. Customers bought 12,014 Cruze sedans this month – a 129 percent increase over the compact car it replaced.

Lol. That's like comparing blu ray player sales to hd DVD player sales. Sure you can buy hd DVD players but they are out dated. Maybe chevy should wait till the new focus comes out to compare the sales of each other.

It happened in the Philippines too. Our local Chevy Philippine branches also reported that the CRUZE had outsell the Ford Focus, Ford Fiesta, Nissan Sentra and Hyundai Sonata.

If Chevy happens to have come out with the better car first, and people have to wait for the new Focus, then they should definitely be comparing to what the competitors have out there currently. For every person buying a Cruze today, that's one less purchase of a Focus, old OR new.

Wanna compare Apples to Apples? Fine. The new Focus isn't out yet, so the Cruze still outsold it in January, by about 13,000 to 0. :)
