is the bolt pattern the same for the 16 and 17” wheels? I have a 2012 cruze eco with 215/55 R17 tires; I am looking for a compact spare but only see 115 T16 as the size

That's the correct size for the donut. If you want more information on the spare take a look at the GM Spare Tire in my signature.

I have the same one as Obermd in my 2012 Eco and yes 16 is the size. That is because it was initially intended for the LS and LT models with 16in wheels not the Eco with 17s not sure if the LTZ has one. But you are looking at the right spare. The only problem with the smaller wheel is if you have a flat in the front, you would play a little rotation and put the spare in the back and move the wheel from the back in the front. At least that is my understanding.

For safety and handling reasons you should always put a donut spare on the back.
