I’ve seen a lot on here about not being able to customize the shifter knob after 2012 due to the fact that Chevy decided to go with press on. Is there any way bypass this? I have a 2015 LS manual. It has reverse lockout and I wanted more opinions on if this can be worked with. I really want an after market shifter. Would it be possible to just remove the top and add a thread so I could screw on any shifter I wanted? From what I’ve seen it’s the reverse lockout causing issues as well as the press ons. Does the reverse lockout absolutely have to have the spring? Any advice in a detailed straightforward manner would be appreciated.

I actually prefer no knob over a knob, the knurling makes for a good grip by itself and often times a finger is more than sufficient to change gears
