Dash Cam

I'm looking for a good dash cam. The dash cam i had was pretty good. Picture was good, picked up good audio, all around good product. The thing is the dash cam I had (sent it back to amazon) sent out some sort of single that would interfere with my tmps sensors and my key fobs. I am looking for some advice for one that wont interfere with the singles. If anyone has any suggestions let me know. Price range is about $100.

GS90C. It runs the Ambarella A7 chipset which is great quality. I have that as my front facing dashcam and a G90 (older internal hardware but same external look) as a rear facing camera.

The GS90C has a GPS addon that displays your speed in MPH beside the timestamp. That camera also allows for 1920x1080 60FPS footage to be recorded. I like the higher framerate because it allows for smoother looking video and easier for it to capture finer details such as license plates when moving at higher speeds. If you don't feel you need that, the G90 will work for you and costs less.

Here's the GS90C: GS90C Ambarella A7LA70 Full HD 1296P Car Dash Camera DVR 170° 2.7 G-sensor [GS90C]FoxOffer - Wholesale, OEM, Drop shipping from China directly

If you haven't heard of FoxOffer, they're a great site. They're based in Hong Kong or China or something so if you send support emails their replies are rather vague but I've ordered both my dash cams from them and the shipping is free, takes a while to arrive, but has been very reliable.

Here's a dashcam compilation I threw together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkKM_RjFPgs All footage is from my G90 Dashcam. I can put up a demo video with 2 clips from my GS90C camera shortly for comparison.

EDIT: Here's a brief demo video of the GS90C footage recorded at 60FPS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKBWJ-jxvPo

How do you have the front one ran, wire wise?

Yes, the receiver for the TPMS and key fobs is in that thick plastic at the base of the mirror. So they're right next to where you want to put the dashcam.

I think someone fixed that problem by attaching ferrite core around the dashcam's power line.

If you mean in terms of where I ran the wire, I have the camera positioned to the right of my rearview mirror and have the wire run under the roof liner to the left, down the A pillar on the driver's side and under the dash. As for how I have it wired into my car, I have the cigarette lighter adapter plugged into a Power Magic Pro unit. You can read up more on that if interested but basically since the Cruze's outlets aren't powered when the vehicle is off, I can turn the Power Magic unit on and it runs off a constant power fuse from the fuse box supplying power to my cameras when the car is off allowing it to continue to capture footage if I'm parked in a high risk area like a busy street. If I turn the Power Magic unit off, then it shuts off my cameras when the vehicle isn't running. It also detects if the battery drops below 12 volts as to not drain the vehicle's battery too much. I can snap a few pictures tomorrow and report back here to give you a better idea of my setup.

There's a power line for the maps lights. It has power as soon as I push the button for my keyless entry doors and stays on for 10 minutes after shutdown if nothing's happening.

Well when it first happened, I didnt know it was the camera. I took it in to get it looked at and the dealer told me it was that. After that i moved it to the right side of the Windshield on the passenger side and it still did it.

That was me. I actually have three small ferrite cores around the USB cable where it is next to the TPMS receiver. I also slightly rerouted the line at a different angle.

Someone else purchased a higher quality shielded USB cable and that helped with their problem.

I don't think you will have any better luck with a different dashcam.

Do you have the power box ran from the inside fuze box or the one under the hood.

Why so? If no one else has the problem with other ones why would I still have the problem?
Pictures would be great! I like having my wires clean and out of site.

Inside the car under the dash. The Power Magic Pro unit has 3 wires. The first one for connecting to a fuse that has supplied power only when the car is on, the second one for connecting to a fuse that has power supplied all the time (I used the fuse for OnStar), and a ground wire.

You won't. The camera you had likely didn't have a properly shielded cable. The camera I linked in my previous post has a well shielded cable. I have the TPMS system in my Cruze as well and have no problems with that system or my key fobs.

Ok, I misunderstood. I thought you were just going to wing it with some other random dashcam. I didn't realize there were particular models that have a better shielded usb cable out of the box.

Good to know.

Did you get one of the fuse holders that have two fuses but gets the power from one fuse spot?

I just looked at it again its very thin.

No, that's why i came on here because I know I'm not the only one who has/wants a dash cam.

If you've ever cut USB cables or any cable that has what looks like aluminum foil wrapped around the wires, that is the shielding that prevents interference. If the cable you're referring to is very thin, it likely has no shielding.

If you are still undecided on a dashcam and would like to explore further options, https://dashcamtalk.com/ has a fantastic comparison of a lot of dashcams available from entry level to $800+ units. The only one I can highly recommend is the G90 and GS90C as I mentioned due to the fact that those are the only ones I've owned. There is a forum on DashCamTalk as well that you can read through to get footage samples and reviews from dashcam owners.

Good luck and feel free to reply back or PM me with any questions you have.
I'm using a Mini 0806 dashcam. The thing is super small, but does have a screen on the back, so you can set things up, or view recorded stuff. Look it up.. Runs around $100 bucks.
I also run to the cig plug.

If you don't want to pay that much for a dashcam.. I'll suggest a G1W-C. Bigger in size, great quality picture and sound. Amazon has both. Reviews are good. I have both as well. Like the size of the mini0806, picture quality is really good too. Both do 1080HD
Thank you all for helping me out with this! If I didnt come on here I would have been up all night just trying to figure it out. I appreciate it!
I have an A118C. A118 is sorta a generic code for the style of cam with many different brandings, image sensors, and chips from what I've gathered, and the C is for capacitor (works better in extreme temps). You can get one for around $60 on eBay from US sellers, or as little as $50 from China (shipping times vary wildly). I have it powered with this kit, which is really high quality, and at least that is made in USA.

Pretty much all the reviews of the A118 are going to say that it's a very good daytime cam, and mediocre night cam. That has been my experience as well. It also sometimes doesn't automatically turn on, but I haven't tried new firmware versions yet. That's kinda a problem, but I'm looking into it.

I actually put together a video of test footage in various weather driving in my Cruze, and can take some pics of installed (very clean and stealthy). Just haven't got around to uploading the video or taking pics yet.
