Unfortunately my jack is out of commission leaving me to rely on someone else for an oil change. I've been considering getting an oil change at one of those quick lube places like Jiffy Lube ONLY because they can do it without putting the car on a lift/jack. They have it where you drive in and beneath where you drive in is a lower ground level where the techs are changing the oil from. Im only going this route because of the fact that the whole automotive industry/training is a joke and after all of the degree, ASE certifications, and thousands of dollars car manufacturers want to charge for a car, dealerships refuse to enforce the importance of simply lifting a vehicle without scratching and damanging the recomended lift areas and rocker panels. Ive had my rocker panels destroyed on every new car icluding this one simply because of the car being lifted. Most people don't know its happening unless they are obessesive..... scratch that, i mean SMART like me. I simply dont understand the lack of important emphasis on protecting these areas in the nothern states. You can wash wax and detail your car all you want, in the end its still going to rust/rot out in these same typical areas, the rocker panels and it all starts from that damage from those lifts to the pinch welds. I wasn't putting up with this this time with my cruze, so i had the dealer fix my damaged rocker panels/pinch welds they caused for free.
I'm not trying to have dealers repaint these areas after ever maintainance i do on the car, so to prevent this im going to these drive in places as much as i can. Is this a wise decision? What risk do i put myself? Will these people put in the correct GM oil? Will they accidentally put in the wrong kind voiding my warranty? What are the chances they will set me up? Ive heard specials on TV where this company has pretended you needed something else done or damaged something on purpose.
