Diesel Availability

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen any diesels in recent time on the lots of your local Chevy dealers? I looked through my nearest 5 or 6 local dealers online for fun just to see what other Chevy cars they had in stock. I looked through the Cruze section of each one and none of them have a diesel on their lot, sedan or hatchback. Not to mention that few dealers have a very, very small selection of hatchbacks. Some, none at all. I'm wondering if this is something that would have to be ordered from the dealer. I don't know. I don't sell cars enough to know. I live in Central Florida, by the way.

I had to go a few hundred miles to get mine, but that dealer had I think 12 of them on the lot. 6 manual 6 auto.

It's pretty easy to get an auto diesel but the manuals are harder to come by.

I've heard (from dealers) production might have stopped so if you want one I suggest grabbing one you find on a lot ASAP.

I'm near the STL Metro. I saved a search using cargurus.com when my VW TDI died. I was specifically looking for a manual diesel hatch. One popped up a couple hundred miles away and I was on the road to look at it within a couple hrs. I bought it on the spot as a hatch was tough enough much less a diesel 6spd. I'd be prepared to travel for one, the automatics are not too hard to find. Also 2018 is supposed to be the last year the manual tranny is offered.

Looks like GM sent ‘em all to Southern California...101 Diesels found from L.A. to San Diego, only 13 of those are Manuals.

Arizona on the other hand is a literal diesel desert...only 3 found in a 200 mile radius of Phoenix.

So if you’re in the market for a CTD, buy a one-way ticket to LAX.

I shopped 4 dealers in SW Flo-rida for an '18 diesel A9 LT with little luck. There were 2 but neither wanted to deal and neither came close on trade-in value for my C7. I drove 1050 miles each way for mine in Md. at Criswell Chevrolet in Gaithersburg. Counting trade-in value and price for the diesel,they beat the dealers down here by almost $2500. Mine has Driver Confidence,Sun & Sound Pkg. and Leather Pkg. I was aware of Criswell because they have the top Corvette salesman in the country,though I didn't deal with him. They SAY they get plenty of them.They currently have a diesel hatch and sedan,both A9s. And 31 gassers.
For you,it would be a very easy 3 day trip if you have a trade. I overnighted in NC in both directions,same hotel. Otherwise,fly to DCA and take the Metro from the airport and they will pick you up at the station. My purchase was 3 weeks ago yesterday.

A local dealer in my area had a ridiculous amount of Cruze's. It was no surprise I was going to find at least one; 2 to be exact. However, they were both the generic (LT?) model. No RS package or anything, fairly plain looking. They were both hatchbacks though.

Seems it's the same at the Gen 1 was, limited availability since it's a relatively new thing. Still not sure why they aren't making a big deal of it in advertising.

Yeah, there's a few diesels in the DC/MD/VA area here. I've NEVER seen a Gen 2 diesel in the wild.

Can't say I've really seen a Gen 2 Diesel up here, either, aside from a camo-covered one prior to the official "unveiling". We did pull up behind a dark blue 1st gen CTD on Sunday - I saw the green badge, and as we got close enough I saw the "2.0 TD", and my wife and I were both pretty amazed we saw another one. There's a dark gray one that parks in the same lot as us, and generally right near us, that can cause some confusion at work. But it still has gold bowties and no fogs, nor the MSRs - but in the winter, with our stock wheels on, it can give you pause.

Somewhat unrelated, but I heard my neighbor's GMC Terrain getting onto the road our sub is off of and, considering I heard it, it definitely was a diesel (and, you know, it sounded like one).

The badging is so discreet don't be surprised if one drove right by and you didn't notice. The only outward difference is the tiny little "td" mark on the right rear.
