The GPS option in the Cruze's radio is a feature that was never implemented and the option was inadvertently left in the menus.

Ordered from Amazon, sharp plastic and bad back caused busted knuckles, but install was done in an hour or so. Works great on a 2013 Cruze LS (with basic stereo). Not as good as other built in A2DP systems with mfr like kia and mazda - as it doesn't auto re-connect everytime. But a quick few menu presses and you can tell it to connect. mids and highs sound the same as USB, but lows are a little less. Well worth the $90 from amazon with next day saturday shipping (and the fact its a leased car and i wanted to leave it as stock as possible - and ACDelco is about as stock as you can get!!!!) My Firmware was HW DB SW DE with stock PDIM, but everything seems to still work the same, with added A2DP.

Thanks goes out to everyone that had anything to do with this!!!!!! I had to make a quick decision when leasing the car to either jump way up to MyLink to get BT audio, or stay right where i wanted to be with the $149 lease and loose my audio. A sales person told me that it had it, just like in his Camaro... So after playing with the car for a bit, I asked him to show me... No luck, as everyone on this thread knows. Big thanks to those that took the time to take pictures and take notes and post it all here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was the DB/DE PDIM the original one already installed or the new one you put in? What is the part number for that PDIM?

bojangles, DB/DE was the original versions before i did anything. Just bought the Cruze 2/12/13. I added pictures of the PDIM's and HW/SW versions to my car in my garage.

i've been lucky the last 4 trips with the car as the BT audio automatically connected when the car was started up - like you would imagine. (a BT phone call killed it and i had to work the menu's to reconnect it)

really like this mod!!!!

I'd like to add a successful story to the thread. I installed the pdim on my girls car its a 2011 Cruze LS, and it took about 15 minutes, it works great, and now her bluetooth for her phone sounds alot better than it did before. Great write-up, Also for the guys who are having problems with the bass I didnt notice any difference. I have a samsung galaxy s2.

I saw that there were 3 people able to do this update on an LS. Two of them 2013's and one being a 2011. I have a 2011 LS and I was wondering if with this update allow you to make phone calls through bluetooth?

Thanks,

Handsfree calling is a feature of the On-Star module, even for Bluetooth. This mod provides Bluetooth music and some control over the music player from the steering wheel controls.

Has anybody installed this on a 2012 1LTw/FL? I have the 3.5 mm plug but no USB, no onstar. Upon taking a quick glance into where the PDIM should be, I don't have one there, just a slot for it. I was skeptical about this working for me as I didn't see any hanging plugs anywhere. Is there a special harness I need to buy in order to make this work?

if im not mistaken you must have onstar to have the bluetooth function. So to the best of my knowledge no you will not be able to add this feature.

You need to have OnStar for Bluetooth hands free calling and is independent of the radio's PDIM. Bluetooth stereo requires a PDIM, which needs a base radio that supports it. The easiest way to know if you have a PDIM is to look. I don't think this modification will work if you don't have a PDIM to swap out. These are two separate systems, each with its own Bluetooth radio in the car.

So you need a subscription to onstar to make hands free calling even if you're not going through their phone service?

Correct. The OnStar module is required to make Bluetooth phone calls.

Just to clarify obermd's post, you can indeed have a new install of a PDIM, as long as you get a dealership technician to reprogram your radio. A bunch of the Camaro guys have done it as an addon. Make sure you have the screen that is about 1.5" long. The smaller one, like on some rental models and in Eurasia will not support the PDIM.

No. The OnStar module in the car happens to handle Bluetooth hands free calling, but you don't need an OnStar subscription to use this feature.
