my 2012 1.4 is throwing code po601 says i need to replace Ecm is that something i can order and bolt on or do i have to take my car to a chevy dealership

Well first off, ECMs almost never go bad. Unless something very odd has happened, like running your car through a lake or messing up a jump start.

I would first load check the car battery. Then clean the 3 wiring harness connectors on the ECM.
