I haven't seen this as a common issue, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem. A check engine light is always worth checking out. Labor costs usually are quite high so for relatively simple issues you may be better off researching and learning to repair the problem on your own, you'll take much better care of your car than anyone else anyway. Hope you're able to resolve this issue, keep us updated.

It's MY13, I bought it brand new April 2014.
I guess I'm getting it checked today as it's free and under warranty.
In the future, when it's out of warranty, I may indeed try to fix some simple things myself, but if that means car being out of service for an extended period of time then it's a cost as well...
I know it's a hassle to bring it in, but it's better safe than sorry IMO.

As for servicing your vehicle but still needing transportation, you can pick up a ninja 300 pretty cheap now :D

Or if you're only cruising through neighborhoods to get where you're going you can get one of these. But that's not recommended.
