What Eddy said...

It's about risk management.

If you are comfortable with an unexpected repair or two costing say $1,000 and no replacement transportation, then you'll be fine without an extended warranty.

If you'd rather pay say $1,000 up front for a warranty and know that repairs will be covered (or maybe never have a need for a repair) then you're better with a warranty.

Warranties are sold because like insurance they make money for the seller. You are buying peace of mind.

I always buy the GMPP (now GMEPP) and have probably broken even over the past 30+ years. But I've also never lost any sleep or had any anxiety about having a repair fixed at no charge to myself.

By 2014 the Cruze was a solid, trouble-free product. The vehicle was designed to last 148,000 miles as long as the service schedule was followed scrupulously. But I still bought a seven year / 100,000 mile / zero deductible GMPP. Because I'm happy to pay for a low-grief life.

Whatever you do, only buy the product supported by GM. Which is called GMEPP today.

As far as I know, once the B2B expires, you can't get the GM extended warranty.
That too is my understanding.

Plus GMEPP offer several terms of coverage so be sure you understand what you're being sold.

As well, many dealers mark it up excessively - but it can be bought online from some GM dealers who will compete for your business.
