Is there a particular pattern? Does it do this at a particular volume, when hitting bumps or does it sound like they're about to blow? Have you tried multiple inputs? Cd, fm, Sirius, Bluetooth, and got the same sound? What year and trim is your cruze?

Both sides at the same time? That's strange. It's either a loose plug or a failing silver box.

How long ago did you have them installed? Is it possible the wiring insulation is being worn through due to the way they were installed? What type of connectors did you use? Is it possible they have come loose or were never really put together well?
What impedance are they? The radio is only rated for 4 ohms and will protect itself if it's overloaded. Some car speakers are 2 ohms to get more power. The radio won't like that.

I have the Pioneer system and lost all speakers except the center and the 6x9 subs, shop found a shorted wire and replaced as well as corrected the root cause of the short.
