I'm assuming you get a lot more turbo noise during regular driving?

Did it change how the car ran/acted at all? Any fuel economy changes, CELs, etc?

I never noticed any change in behavior. If it does happen the car should learn itself out of it eventually.

It's difficult to hear the turbo whine. I think this is a good video which shows what it will sound like. You will hear lots of flutter, it's something that happens on the stock one as well it's just difficult to hear.

So overall, it shouldn't do much either way, aside from make a little more noise.

I like noise. My wife probably won't care much, but who knows, she loves telling people she has a diesel and seeing the confused look on their faces.

And yeah, it does make that noise, but oh so quietly, with the stock airbox. Hearing it more would be neat, assuming it's not detrimental to the vehicle's performance/fuel economy. Obviously, the stock air box isn't exactly restrictive to begin with.

Yeah this is all cosmetic pretty much. It definitely does 'change' things (better or worse), but it's such a little amount it's going to not be noticeable.

I noticed a small manufacturing defect on the Amsoil filter. One of the wires apparently wasn't wound correctly and is just hanging on by a thread.

Kind of disappointing since it's an Amsoil. New price is $170. You can judge if you want to use it or not.

Just packed it all up though. All bubble wrapped and ready to be tossed around by ups.

I got mine for the noise. It may increase throttle response a bit, bit it's hard to say. In addition though to increasing the noise of the turbo, I find it increases the engine growl quite a bit.
If you're climbing a hill on a long stretch of road or on a highway, you definitely hear the air flow. To most (at least with my filter) the air flow would just sound like leaking air, but I enjoy hearing the sound. If it gets to be a bit much though, some music easily drowns it out.

I'm not sure, it's almost a 2 year old filter. Even if they would replace it, I'm not sure if its worth the effort to navigate their system.

The filter just sitting in the engine bay isn't something I'd probably do again. But if someone made a box which simply replaced the old box filter with the round style, I'd switch in a heart beat.

Well the theory is that it seals to the hood and pulls in cold air - but in reality, it likely still pulls in warmer engine-bay air. Which, actually is likely to help fuel economy, slightly.

I have everything a wash (excent the kn filter cause oil and all that). Rub your finger on the inside of that metal pipe and tell me it's clean. The amsoil filter got a nice gentle bath but I wasn't able to restore the bright blue color. The 'flaw' is on the inside toward the far side.

Also I should say unplugging the battery is pretty important. The car doesn't like it when you unplug that sensor so it's best to just put it to sleep for a little while.

Hmm, didn't see any issues inside the filter, but I'll have another look - give it is inside the filter, I'm not too worried about it.

And okay, cool - I was going to ask if you had done that or not. Usually it's just a very rough precaution, but I know our cars are super pissy about **** near everything.
