Gen-1 or Gen-2

Hi All,

New member here from Sydney.

I am about to purchase 2014 Equipe. Seems like model names a bit different here compared to other parts of the World. Which category this car falls into, Gen1 or Gen2?

Regards,
Oscar

it would be Gen1 if it is the same as the Cruze Gen2 didn't start until 2016
The 2014 Oz-built Cruze is close to the Gen1 US-built Cruze, but it's not identical.

It's a Series II JH, the 1.4l and 1.8l engines are essentially the same as in the US-built Cruze, but the diesel is a completely different engine.

I am not sure about the gearboxes, they may be the same.

I know the headlight globes are different, ours work a lot better.

Some of the dimensions of things are different, for example the JH headlights are taller than the US-build.

The ECUs are programmed completely differently, but the petrol ones can be tuned the same, I gather.

And so on... :)

In the US, yes. But I think the first Gen2 would have been China in 2015.

I don't think there's any 2014 Gen 2.

Not anymore. I have replaced mine with 70w HID 6000k :)

I hope you mean that you replaced the headlight units with projectors so that you don't blind oncoming traffic.

No I didn't. Actually 70w was too much, too bright on halogen housing. I changed the ballasts with 55w. Now nobody swears at me :)
