That's a new one on me. Given that the GMPP MSRP gives the dealer ~40% profit I don't know who would be paying the money.

In my book, an extended warranty is a insurance policy. Ever try to get refund on an insurance policy you didn't "use"?

If you cancel part way in, or before the factory warranty lapses and the extended kicks in, then I can see a refund - but not after its all done.

Hello. I was speaking with a friend who just bought a used 2014 GMC Sierra and got the GM extended warranty. I bought my 2012 Cruze new from a GM dealer and got the extended warranty also. My friend told me if he doesn't use the extended warranty, GM will cut him a check for the amount he spent, less the 150 dollar admin fee.


What do you guys know about this?

I am in Canada.

It might be different in Canada but as of today the GMPP is no longer available as the new G.M. backed GMEPP is the official Service Contract of G.M. (no such thing as an Extended Warranty). The contract is prorated and runs concurrently with the factory coverage. Canceling for a prorated refund minus the $50 admin fee is an option on some of these policies provided you never used it, and it can transfer to the next owner minus an admin charge, a great selling point. I know when I was pummeled by a Semi Truck and lost my last car I contacted the Dealer who had sold me a policy and they returned most of my money minus a small charge!

Yes it is really smart to obtain one of these contracts if you plan on keeping the CRUZE. A common misconception is it costs more if you don't buy at the time of purchase. I actually bought one and then returned it, and bought a better GMPP with a Zero $ deductible from a closer Chevy dealer, saved $500 although the refund of my first GMPP had to be applied to the loan, I couldn't pocket it!

Is there a money-back satisfaction guarantee?
Yes. You will receive a full refund if the GM Protection Plan is canceled within 60 days and there have been no claims filed. After 60 days, the refund amount is prorated based on time and mileage remaining. A small administrative fee may apply.
