First issue was my fiance told me the car wasn't getting hot, next she told me that a light came on saying air conditioner turned off due to high engine temp. She swears the gauge never got past halfway. I called Chevy and got somebody good who told me about this extra warranty but I had to call GM to get it covered. I was told to drive the car to the dealership and that it was not getting hot day was just a water pump issue. As the car never appeared to be hot I tried to drive it down there but didn't make it and had to get it towed. 2 weeks now they told me the battery is bad and that the expected life span... 3 years... BS on that!
They have had the car for 2 weeks now I have not received the phone call from the service manager. When I called they told me that after they put the water pump in they blew the head gasket...
I will stop here as anything else would be just a b**** and a rant and there is plenty of that on this site already.
You can add me to the list of those "I will never buy another Chevy"!!!

Temperature gauge never gets past halfway unless its summer and you are in traffic. Typically the high engine temperature warning is the thermostat that needs replaced not just the water pump.

Batteries can last one day to 10 years they aren't perfect. Why do they still have the car it should be fixed by now.

We can add you to the list who say they won't by a Honda, Toyota also. Sounds like you need a new dealer.

You need a new dealership, but first you need to get your car fixed. Private Message our @"Chevy Customer Care" account here with the information about your dealership. The dealership will probably try to claim they've been calling with no answer, but if you're like most of us and gave them your cell number you'll know that's a lie because cell phone record all calls for future reference.

When the water pump fails, it leaks. It still pumps fine, but if you're not watching the coolant, it will get low and cause a number of problems. You have been keeping an eye on the coolant in accordance to the schedule in the owner's manual, right? If not, then the blame could shift to you. So be careful what you say to the dealer.

Fortunately, the power train warranty should be covering this.

As for the battery, 3 years is pretty common. I see no reason to call BS on that.

The head gasket failure was a result of operating the car in a overheated condition....that's why it quit on the way to the dealer.

You operated the car knowing it had a heating problem......not caused by Chevrolet.......consider yourself fortunate......Lucky it was a Chevy......toyohondnissan would have told you to pound sand.

Thank you obermd... ahhhh... I get the name... will pm!

I will keep that link for reference. While probably foolish, I am going to give credit for some of the really good things they did this time around which offset the negatives, giving them a neutral score ;)

I will post a full update now that I've had the car back for a week... right after I get finished with an intake note and a couple of follow-up/progress notes!

As I stated Rob, there was no physical sign of overheating. ex. no spewing steam, no smoking dipstick... Also, as posted, I immediately tried to get service from a dealership in Hoover, who were unconcerned. I repeatedly and thoroughly described to the service manager what was happening and was repeatedly told to drive the car to the dealership. This was echoed by GM. I would hope toyohondnissan would be a bit more proactive should such a situation arise, otherwise, I'd have to mix a bit of concrete and lime to the sand and utilized the brick it formed ;)

As in the post, the coolant level was consistently checked. There was NO evidence of either a water pump leak, nor the car physically overheating.

As I told the service manager... If you are getting but 3 years from your batteries, I suggest a better vendor!

Unfortunately the dealership is the representing agent of the manufacturer. If an HVAC guy came out and installed a Rhem or... and you called and complained about it not working correctly, and after several visits they told you it was working perfectly, only to have it fail later, would you be looking to purchase another Rhem?

I lived most of my life in Oregon and worked in some pretty harsh conditions... I have NEVER had a battery, which I purchased, last less than 5 years.

If they are warranting a battery for 3-5, I suspect they have in the neighborhood of a 95% expectation of it reaching 6-10!

Batteries last longer in colder climates. Heat is a battery's worst enemy because heat will degrade the catalyst in the battery. A few years ago JD Powers reported that the number 1 replacement item in the first three years of ownership, regardless of manufacturer, is the battery. Battery replacement occurred even more than tires.

I own a 2012 Cruze. First sign of problem was lack of heat. Next the fan kept running- very loud, then the overheat light came on. This happened within 3-4 week time span. When the light came on (and then went off), I called the dealer and asked for the coolant to be flushed and replaced. The dealer took me in the day that I called, which surprised me because the weather called for a major snow storm. While I waited, the service tech came to me and said the water pump needed to be replaced and that it was covered under a special warranty. (The car is out of warranty- over 5 years and 66,000 miles but I did not question it!). The dealer provided me a loaner car and told me it would be done at the end of the day. It was. I like the cruze. I am disappointed that it needed such a repair at such low miles, but I found the dealer to be exceptionally accommodating. I also should have had the coolant system checked earlier, so that is on me. I am posting this so that others will know this is a common problem with this car. I did not know it until checking it out after my issue. Good luck all.
