Fortunately mine didn't suffer any window breakage so whomever buys it should have a pretty good car.
Excellent job @Patman...That's why it pays to do your homework.Looks like the hail storm that took out one of Mike's Cruzes and others in Colorado are making their way to dealers in Cincinnati area
My son after driving my LT for a day when his car was "down" is interested in a similar car LT etc. So I did an Autotrader
search and found a 2012 LT RS that had some hail damage. Since they provide the VIN I did a search on the VIN and it turns out
to be a car bought at an auction that has a Salvage title from Colorado. A couple of reason I was looking at it, reasonably priced "appeared" to be in good condition.
After doing the VIN search and saw the history, I saw more of the damage pics in the salvage yard with the back window broken out.
On top of that, no remaining warranty(less than 100000 miles but DOS > 5 years(2012)) Dodged a bullet on that? Just have to keep looking.
I wonder who will end up with that car.
$ 200.00 I can afford that. Any good ones left?Come on out to Colorado. You can buy them brand new with hail damage. LOL!
Very probably.$ 200.00 I can afford that. Any good ones left?
The real question is can you get glass insurance on the car. Some states allow you to cover the glass under insurance but not the rest of the car body.I could have lived with just the hail damage(this is replacement of my son's chevy classic that needs a front bumper cover replacement and is starting to have pass lock starting issues(the car thinks it is being stolen and wont start for 10 min)). My biggest issue: The car has a salvage title not sure how that works in Ohio vs Kentucky. I am not sure what I will be able to do with a salvage title on a car? I may take a look at it and offer them ? depending on the overall condition of the car because the car also has no warranty and I know the history. I will do more research and let everyone know esp if I go look at it.
Aw, what the hail...go for it!Honestly, I am thinking esp after our thread where Mike and I mentioned missing a manual transmission and the fact that my step son is totally naive when it comes to buying a diff car and doesn't know what he wants but likes mine, to let him have my 2014 LT auto and I will get a different car with a 6M. There is a certified 2014LT 6M with 35K on the ODO and the certified status gives it an extra year on the warranties. I drove the car and it brought back memories about driving a stick again and it is real nice! I typically don't last too long after I buy an auto b4 I get another stick. Remember I was wanting to trade my Eco6M for a LT6M anyway! I really only bought 14 LT auto bc it was available and it would be better suited for my family. I truly know we are very "possessive of our cars" that what ever I own my wife will drive her Accord and timing wise(work and school), I will take whatever I have. It was just this week when my son had early soccer practice that he had to leave b4 me. As they said on that commercial for the game of Life: Ah decisions decisions!!!! Just no pay day here! and how much do I want to spend on another car!
Yea a stick would make me happy again and my son would be happy with my car! On a side note, I just got an offer from XM and I am thinking about getting it again(6 mos for $30) but I don't want the same BS as I had with my "limited lifetime" subscription and changing cars. But I did not sign up yet.Aw, what the hail...go for it!
Done I bought #4 today I just bought a 2013 LT RS 6M. Ironically the same color as my 2014 but a RS and 6M. 49700 on the ODO and the place I bought it from offers lifetime(as long as I own the car) mechanical warranty(like the power train warranty). New tires and fog lights. This car is also tinted!!! I think they just got the car in and gave me a good deal on it. Almost more so a good deal on my trade 2005 Chevy Classic that I think was falling apart and having troubles with the passlock system and could not start some times.Yea a stick would make me happy again and my son would be happy with my car! On a side note, I just got an offer from XM and I am thinking about getting it again(6 mos for $30) but I don't want the same BS as I had with my "limited lifetime" subscription and changing cars. And that car I drove yesterday was nice and with 35K on the clock the clutch still had some life. I need to look around, that was the first car I looked at.
