As others have recommended, your best option is to just replace the line with the redesigned one that already includes a good wrap. It will probably cost you just as much but will take far less time, and you'll get a new line with new o-rings.

I wrapped/covered my oil line yesterday with DEI 010409 (spark plug covers) and also lubed the O ring. In Canada the new oil feed line is in the $45 range vs the DEI $7 covers. I use Synthetic Oil, this was more as a precaution. Hope this helps.

Be advised that those original oil lines with one o-ring have a high tendency to start leaking at the o-ring due to deterioration. That's one of the reasons they went with two o-rings on the revised line that includes a heat shield.
