Hello all,

Names Dan, i joined another Chevy Cruze forum (can't find any Aus ones, there all into their Commodores over here ) probably a lot of the same members on here !!

I have an Aus spec SRI manual in the Alto Grey. Recently i fitted some Vertini Magic wheels (235/35r19) and i'm waiting for the H&R sport springs to arrive. Also had the windows tinted, though i'm going to get them to go over it as there's quite a few imperfections.

Future plans are some custom fitted lambswool seat covers, and as a cheap mod i'd like to replace the aerial with a bee sting style, and look at some ceramic brake pads just to keep the dust levels down on my new wheels. If i can find a 4300K kit that works without any issues would be good to. Midway through the year i might even throw some Bilstein B8's in there if i can get a good price on them.

Hi iCruze,

Pedders sort of have a bad rep over here, and for many are the last place you would want to go for suspension mods. The main brand available for springs is King, and comparing them H & R are a better spring. I couldn't source the Eibachs locally either.

I understand the Pedders coil over kit designed for the Cruze has been popular, so maybe they have turned over a new leaf. I had all ready ordered the H & R springs before finding out that Pedders did their own set.

Welcome from another Aussie,I live in Western Sydney where do you live? By the way my previous VT Commodore had full Pedders suspension including custom rear springs to support the weight of a 70 liter LPG tank and never had an issue with rear tyre wear as VT's with weight in the rear were prone to standard.

I'm from Cairns Aussie.

The H&R springs seemed to return the most search results, Pedders didn't even get a mention other than their coil over kit, and i ruled out coil overs for a daily drive. I know the B6's are readily available, but i've read the B8's are designed for lowered applications, so maybe by the time i'm ready they will be available.

H&R springs turned up today. Took me about almost 3 hours to do the rears, using the standard jack and i broke 2 ratchets. Brought a spring compressor on the way home and going to do the fronts tonight.

Height wise the rears were right on the money at 30mm as advertised, and ride wise the feel about the same, maybe slightly firmer. The fronts say 40mm so i get still have the same raked look as the standard springs.

Beautiful wheels **** you Aussies get all the good GM cars and better bolt pattern on the Cruzes. I see you already got your H&R springs, can you give me a review of King Springs since they are from Australia? They seem to offer more aggressive drops than springs we can get here. I assume you didn't go with them for a reason, it's hard to find reviews for them so I figured being from where they are made that you know of people that have some experience with them. Thanks in advance and welcome to the site.

Kings are the cheapest so that's why they are so popular. But they are also associated with much cheaper rides, old Commodores and kids with first cars and things like that. Most people will go with the very lowest option, and aren't interested in any further suspension work beyond that, they don't care about ride, just low. If you go to google images you'll see the different types of cars in general that come up when you compare King to say H&R, Eibach ect.

The ones most people go with are about a 65mm drop, so King have the market there basically because no one else is making a spring to go down that low. All the other companies realise that beyond a certain point coil overs are really about the only way to go.

The only time i have used Kings was when they were 2nd hand and i was putting them into an older car, i found them to be quite bouncy with a see saw like ride going down the road.

Just realised i never updated this. Did the lowering, but i want to go lower now. Thinking i might just get the springs resest and see how they last.

Here's a picture of how it is now and a photo shopped version a bit closer to where i want to be, but with some front rake to it though.

Also thinking about having the black in the lower grill colour coded , de-badging and having the wheels powder coated black.

Are there any clearance problems with weight in the back? My last car a Commodore S 5 speed which was lowered was OK until I put the gas tank in, then I went to Pedders and they put heavier springs in the back and the ride was quite good. Even with 3 people in the back no more rubbing on bumps. Car had 17 x 8 wheels.

We did a 2 hr trip with 4 in the car ( i also have 2 subs and 2 amps weighing down the rear) and didn't have any issues, plenty of 100 zones too. The only thing you need to watch for is dips in the road, they'll tear the front a new end. With 4 on board i think it was probably sitting about the height i want.

But that was a one off trip, this thing goes 10 mins to work at 2 am, and around town other than that with only 1 passenger at best.
