Hi all - I'm hopeful that the community can help me diagnose a rattling noise that I've been noticing. It's a 2014 Cruze LT with 235k miles. The engine idle is reasonably smooth considering the car's age. The rattle noise really only happens when I'm accelerating and typically around 1,500 RPM. When I have the car parked and rev the engine, there's a faint rattle, but it's nothing compared to the sound when driving. From what I can tell, the noise is coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment. I've included a short video below so that y'all can hear it. Any guidance and ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

Check the mounting bolts for the AC compressor bracket, might be missing a bolt.

Vibration when AC is On

Hi there, I've been having this issue with my 2012 Chevy Cruze ltz 1.4. The problem is when I turn on the AC I can feel more vibration coming from the engine and when I turn the AC off the car runs smooth ,can it be the engine mounts? Does anyone else have this issue?

That's a common RPM for the AC lines to vibrate against the firewall too. Stuffing a piece of foam between them will fix it if that's where it's coming from.

Well, much to my surprise - this was the exact culprit. The top bolt was missing from the a/c compressor mounting bracket. I headed over to Home Depot to find a replacement and viola - no more rattle! It took me a bit of trial and error, but I'm fairly certain it was a M8-1.25 bolt that did the trick. I'm leaving a link in the event that others are seeking a replacement. Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I'm amazed that a $3 bolt solved what I thought would be a time consuming repair.

Been there, rattled that. That is why I suggested it and then only to find out that the issue is common on this engine. I guess they only had the torque wrench turned up to 3 instead of 10 in that foreign factory

When I had accelerating sounds it ended up being the one tire not being balanced. But yours sound more in the center.

I am having weird noises as well but only once I hit around 38-40mph. I'm pretty sure it is the splashguard in the front drivers side wheel-well. It's a little loose and hangs a little bit below side skirt so at high enough speeds it starts flapping around.
