Hi,

Just bought a 2012 Chevy Cruze LTZ a week ago. Was a Ford and Honda driver for many years but after doing my research, I'm loving my (new to me) Cruze.

Disappointed though because it doesn't have a backup camera and it does not have apps for streaming music via Bluetooth. I have the Bluetooth capability for phone calls but I don't see where I have it for audio streaming.

Does anyone know if I can get these 2 items for my car? I've done a little research on the backup camera- wow..those prices for installation are insanely high. I have the Nav system so the screen is already there. I've also heard the camera can be installed on the rearview mirror if the mirror has OnStar? And yes, my mirror is equipped with OnStar.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Laura,

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your purchase!
Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear you're (mostly) loving your Chevy! Maybe an aftermarket license plate frame back-up camera? All GM vehicles come with Onstar, and most of them put the Onstar buttons on the mirror. I do know the trucks have a display in their mirrors for the back up camera, as well as the auto-dimming feature, but the Cruze does not have a screen built into the mirror. As for the music streaming there is probably a Bluetooth to 3.5mm cable you can use, but it'll just say AUX on the screen and only the volume controls will work. Unfortunately I do not think these models came with Bluetooth for audio, only for phone calls. The USB port, if you have one of those, works fairly well with iPods and flash drives. Enjoy your car, and feel free to ask questions ans post pictures of your car. This forum is full of friendly people willing to help! Have a great day!
Hi Laura,

Welcome. Always glad to benefit from increased female participation and perspective.

The items you're seeking were all available from the factory at the time your car was built. But in 2012 they were lest popular than they are now. So many times cars were not ordered from the factory that way. They also costed more so that was a factor for many buying a more economy-oriented car.

I'm sorry-- I do not see the Bluetooth link to which you are referring.

Yes I have an AUX jack but as an audiofile, I'd like to have the Bluetooth streaming capability. :)

OK-- so it's not an option to connect a backup camera to the mirror. Since I have the Nav screen, I know it's possible to connect the camera there, but I had someone quote me a price of about $900?? Is it really that expensive? Is there a DIY option?

Thanks and I appreciate that some wanted a more economical car. Back then, those options were considerably more expensive but now that they're more common, I'm hoping the prices have come down.

My car is the Cruze LTZ-RS and has all the options but does not have Bluetooth music streaming and apps on the "infotainment system" nor does it have a backup camera so, I am trying to educate myself and find out if those options are available(I've read conflicting reports about their availability) and wanted to ask other Cruze owners what they know.

Thank you, however, I do not see the link to which you are referring.

Wait; So if I read this right we can't stream bluetooth and/or only take/make calls?
