I have an occasional problem with my stereo.

On hot (90°F+) humid days, when I start my car, occasionally the stereo will not operate. It just makes a faint high pitched squeal.

I pulled the LOC back out to check the input and could not duplicate the problem. Could not find any possible short circuits.

Then a couple of days later it did it again. I found that if I started the car with the door open it would not do it. Checked everything going into the door, no faults. Could be just a coincidence that it didn't do it with the door open.

Went to check it again. Could not duplicate it.

Before I pull my whole amp install out to check it, has anyone else had a problem like this?

Does the head unit respond to controls normally, but just doesn't make a sound?

I'm thinking that the amp may be going into oscillation - bad news for your tweeters. It would be caused by the output somehow coupling back into the input. Possibly a iffy ground or speaker and input wires run too close together.

Good call. I'm leaning towards the input on the cheesy Scosche LOC.

Should have gone with the PAC.
