"Hood Open" Displayed on DIC

While out last night, I went to remote start the car and it wouldn't start. I hopped in and started the car and immediately the "Hood Open" alert displayed on the DIC.

I shut the car off, popped the hood (which was latched) and closed it again thinking this would cure my issue. I returned to the car, and still received the "Hood Open" message...

Any ideas guys and gals? The hood closes securely so I have no safety concerns. Likely a bad switch?

Hood latch switch has failed.....only available as a complete assembly.

Not common but seems to be a weak spot....all manufacturers....IMO could have come up with better weather sealing.
