Parked the car today like usual, took keys with and 10 seconds later, horn starts blaring on/off on/off until I went outside and put key in and started it.

Anyone else ever had this happen and what is the cause?

That is the alarm kicking in. Need more details to pinpoint what happened.

Didn't know it had an alarm and I have had it for 8y.

It would not stop until I got back in it and started it.

Look at section 2-16. It could be that you butt dialed the panic alarm as well.
