How bad is Chevrolet product specialist at state fair?

1909 Views 10 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  NickD
The wife got off work early today and it's my normal day off so I asked her if she wanted to go to the State Fair. OK, let's go.
Inside Chevy had about 3 or 4 cars and two trucks.
A 2016 Cruze was there, so I thought I'd ask about the upcoming delivery date for the CTD.
Idiot: "You mean the trucks?"
Me "No, the Cruze".
Idiot: "I didn't know Cruze had a diesel."
Me: "Never mind..."

Typical salesman. He'll do everything to steer you towards what he has on the lot.

What I have seen is a bit worse than that, they can have a car lot full of Spark, Sonic, Cruze, Malibu, & Impala yet the salesman know nothing about any of them. Only interested in selling you a high profit margin Silverado or Tahoe and even then don't care to learn enough about what they sell to answer even basic questions.

There mechanics never know whats going on either. Every time i bring my car in it takes them like 3 or 4 visits to solve the problem.

P.S. I have never owned a car with so many problems in my life. I ve had trucks and civics with over 150,000 miles on them that gave me very little problems. This car every 2 or 3 months something is wrong. Maybe i just got a lemon i dont know..?

(Issues with car over 2 year span from 10,000 miles to 35000)
1. A week after i bought car belt and tension pulley replaced said they couldnt believe they sold me like that belt was on by a thread.(2 visits)
2. TWO weeks later heavy screetching chirping sounds from engine took them 4 weeks and about 6 visits to figure it out.( 6 visits)
3. Radio screen freezing up and turning off on its own(1 visit)
4. Mold smell in ac(fixed my self carbon filter and lysol spray)
5. Then Vibrations and friction squeaking sound in steering and gas pedal. (2 visits)
6. plastic compartment on top stopped closing (2 visits)
7. Silver plastic around shift knob cracked (2 visits, waited 2 hour and come out and say peice they got was cracked too had to order another)
8. AC having a mind of its own freezing cold a couple days then hot a couple days. they could not figure out what was wrong 5 visits later they figure out its evap temp sensor. Then give car back to me with ac hissing loud as **** and tell me that its normal. Im like no. Ive been driving the car for a while it never did that. Brought it back several times they could not figure anything out and insisted its normal some car are just louder than others and basically said their is nothing else they can do. I had to tell them after getting advice from Jblack to evacuate the system and refill. They said fine but this is the last thing were doing for you as if i was crazy and hissing was normal. They did it and silence. I bet they felt retarded that a customer had to tell them how to do there job. I spent so much time at the dealership i should have been paid. Luckily everything was under warranty but it was **** and stressful. All that in 2 years. (8 visits until AC completely fixed)
9. Now yesterday Check engine light on now 40,000 miles
10. Several recalls (water pump fluids disappearing, plastic under removed fire hazzard i feel there was more just cant remember)
It nice car i still love it somehow maybe its the electric blue or two tone leather but has been a nonstop headache, i dont think ill be buying chevy again

It's a misunderstanding on our part. When a mechanic tells you "its normal" it doesn't mean its supposed to be that way. Their definition for its normal means "its normal" for it to break down frequently.

The dealer I work for does not do that at all. They know everything about every vehicle, horsepower, fuel economy, towing ratings, etc.

If you are interested in a vehicle and call ahead to make an appointment, the salesmen will spend hours learning about the vehicle before you come to answer any questions you have.

If you end up purchasing the vehicle, they will do a delivery process, which involves helping you set up OnStar, going over how every feature works (MyLink, Etc.), which our older customers appreciate.

We do have the 3rd best sales team in Ohio....

First problem was with the electric power steering, replaced that with a bran new one, no dealer problems with this.

Next problem was excessive wind noise only on the driver's side window, weather strip had a 1/4" gap in it, that wasn't a problem because I showed the dealer other 2012's did not have that problem. Was replaced.

Next problem was my rear disc calipers were a pile of rust and would not ratchet anymore, low brake pedal. While I showed my dealer other 2012's in his lot had plated calipers and were not a pile of rust, still refused to replace them, blamed road salt. This was a battle, but finally have three months got them replaced with plated ones. But did a terrible job of installing them, that I cured myself.

If they soldered dipped the ends of the battery cables would have not been a problem, but sure resulted in strange computer behavior, I soldered those myself. Then using that very cheaply made ignition relay, more like a 5 amp contact, not a 45 amp contact that it should have been. Replaced that myself.

That plastic valve cover is a problem, replaced free under the PT warranty, but if it were made of cast aluminum, would not be a problem. Only a 40 buck part anyway.

Another problem I had was with the windshield, formed many bubbles inside the layer of the glass, wasn't cured properly, but they screwed around with this, and somehow this problem cured itself by leaving it out in the sun.

The really major problem is when my wife was rear ended, she was just slowing down because of those orange construction barrels some ahole hit and were in the middle of the road. Instead of being bounced forward like those bumper cars in amusement park, rear bumper was even with the back window. But this is not Chevy's problem, dey all do dis because of laws made by our DOT.

Not being able as hard working people to deduct our cost of transportation to work or school is a problem, so we can eat, trying to find the cheapest form of transportation and best fuel economy. And since we have earned income, have to pay a ton of FICA taxes on top of this. Rich guys don't have this problem, their private jets are 100% tax deductible, everything is. And since they have unearned income, don't have to pay any FICA taxes.
