I was pulling out of my apartment's covered overhang and wasn't paying attention and managed to dent the passenger fender pretty well. Thankfully it's just the fender and the replacement panel isn't all too expensive and the replacement steps won't be horrendous. The problem is painted panels are almost x10 the price of the primed ones. In the name of frugality I'm going to try and paint the panel myself for experience and cost savings. My question is how much paint will I need for just the front fender and can I do it with just aerosol? Would it be worth my time to find someone with HVLP spray guns? Or am I in over my head? I'm decently mechanically inclined, but not so hot with painting. Thanks in advance.

There is quite a bit of paint transfer on the fender, otherwise I was going to entertain the option of doing paint-less dent repair. I might go ahead and bite the bullet for a prepainted fender, just have to find a reputable supplier. because for the CAPA certified fender pre-painted might end up being a decent deal after I factor in my own time and labor.
