I still would like to see this. 4 months later and no time to post pics??I just got this message . To answer a few quick questions. yes I relocated it to the engine compartment using a ALH MK4 TDI fuel filter . Not being rude or harsh here . Yes it can be done at the same time this mod WILL void your warranty as Chevy Dealer already pointed it out to me. When I have a chance as I have been very busy with my personal life and will try to post a few picture and information on how to .Also I am in the process of selling my Cruze Diesel as well.
he sold his car and moved onI still would like to see this. 4 months later and no time to post pics??
thanksWell after dropping the deflector down for the third time and many trial and errors the correct socket size is 36mm. I know I could of used a pipe wrench but I'm real picky about the tools I use on my car.

Thanks for the note. I wonder what the engineering reason for the difference is.As I mentioned in another thread, I ran across a new second part number while shopping for my fuel filter. I ordered the new part number 23456595 last week (Amazon - $78 with free shipping) and installed this afternoon. The dimensions looked identical to the OEM filter that I took out, and it contained the same O-rings as the kit with the other part number that everyone has been using. The only difference I could identify is that the circle of plastic tabs that goes around the bottom of the filter in the picture at FUEL FILTER | Genuine GM | 22937279 was now a solid circle instead of 6 tabs. Fit was good and everything worked after the initial priming of the system, so perhaps the change to the design of the bottom is the reason for the part number change or maybe it's a new supplier. Either way it works, though, so it seems it is safe to order 23456595 for the CTD fuel filters.
Does this coincide with your overall MPG as calculated by other methods? My change fuel filter just came up at 33,750 miles.
Good question. I did the math and it equates to 925 gallons which equals 3,500 litres.Does this coincide with your overall MPG as calculated by other methods?
Here was my initial finding on the 1000 gallon figure:Good question. I did the math and it equates to 925 gallons which equals 3,500 litres.
I'm not sure where the others got the 1,000 gallon figure from?
If your Cruze is a native-metric build, then that sounds about right. (You are in Canada, aren't you?) Just like your economy-game numbers are set to a conveniently round metric number, and don't calculate out to exactly our 25/50/500, they probably set your fuel filter monitor for 3500 liters rather than 3785.4, which would be the exact conversion for 1000 gallons.Good question. Thanks for the reminder. I will check that screen in the DIC and see what it says. Here was my initial finding on the 1000 gallon figure:

@diesel, how long did it take for the "gushing and bubbling" sound to go away and return to normal when you turn the key on? I cycled my pump (key) numerous times, then started the car and ran it a few minutes, then cycled the key a couple more times, started the car again, and repeated this whole process about 5-6 times. Every time I cycle the pump, I still get some gushing/bubbling sound. The engine did start just a bit rough one of the times, but nothing significant other than that. There are no leaks that I can see....Turn the key to the on position until you hear the lift pump stop running. Do this at least 6 or 7 times. You will hear fuel gushing and bubbling...
So is that filter cheaper? Is the only filter available right now from gm?Ours is sitting at 9%, just over 34k miles currently, so looks like I'm getting closer to doing this.
So as far as draining it is concerned, if I loosen the drain nut, it'll drain forever? Or does it just seem like it, until you loosen the housing and dump it all? Perhaps it just gets a siphon going and pulls more fuel out of the lines? Water should drain out relatively quickly, since it'll always be at the bottom, the rest would just be straight diesel.
Unrelated, but neat to find (perhaps it was already posted that I didn't see): https://www.mann-hummel.com/en/corp...s]=497&cHash=eadf2557ba6f7b908baa7970c4eced8a
