How-To: Gen 2 Quarter Trim Repair

Overview:
This tutorial is to help gen 2 owners repair the rear quarter window trim piece on a gen 2 cruze should it fall off or become loose. Recently when washing my car one of the chrome (plastic) trim pieces around the rear quarter window simply fell off in my hands. Looks like dirt or debris got in behind and worked the glue loose. This will show the steps I took to repair and reinstall.

Tools Required:
- Isopropyl alcohol
- clean rag / towel

Part Required:
- Outdoor double stick tape. I used 3M brand which is red and rated for heavy duty use

Procedure:
It's just held on with double stick tape from the factory as you can see in the second photo. I removed and cleaned up the old tape/residue with my finger nail and then wiped both surfaces down really well with isopropyl alcohol. Then I applied some new 3M outdoor heavy duty double stick tape. Popped it on and held firmly for 20 or 30 seconds and it's good as new!
