Finally getting around to typing a welcome post. Bought a (certified) used 2013 Eco (58k miles) back in October 2015 to replace my 2003 Mini Cooper S that was totaled thanks to being rear-ended in Austin traffic. Right now I just passed 71k miles and so far it's been a great car. It's not quite as fast as the Mini was but it is quieter and more comfortable. Mileage so far has been great (36+ mpg average on my commute, highest so far has been 48 mpg for a tank), so it lives up to it's "Eco" name.So far, I have managed to only own manual-transmission vehicles so finding this car was a great find. Hardly any vehicles still even offer manuals
.Only major complaints so far has been with the MyLink radio in that I really need a CTRL-ALT-DELETE function on it when it locks up (which has happened 3 times so far), and the brakes sounding/feeling kind of funny when slowing from highway speeds (sounds like a grinding sound from the rear drums, but the dealership says they are OK).Previous vehicles were a 77 Chevrolet Chevette (180K miles, rusted out, finally traded in), 85 Toyota Corolla GTS (Autocrossed for a bunch of cheap plastic trophies+track days, totaled by a "friend"), 89 Mazda Miata (279k miles, more autocrossing, sold to a different friend after needing a back seat for a 2nd kid, still on the road), and the previously mentioned 03 Mini Cooper S (197k miles). I try and keep cars until they are either small piles of dust or forcibly removed from the road so I hope this one keeps that tradition.I'm interested in mild mods but I still need to have a very reliable daily driver.
