I ordered a new fuel filter, part #23456595 for my CTD a few weeks ago. I finally got around to installing it today. When I finally got the old fuel filter out, I realized it looked different than the new one I have. The new one I have is nearly identical, except it does not have any tabs or circle on the bottom which secures it into the housing. When I double checked, sure enough, the filter they sent me was part #23459023 even though invoice had the correct part #.
So now I have a car sitting (in the garage, fortunately), with no fuel filter.
Fortunately, I haven't contaminated the old one, but I'm curious if it would hurt to reinstall it until I can get a new one shipped to me. Would draining it and shifting it around loosen any trapped particles that could end up going downstream in the fuel system if I were to reinstall it for a little while?
