Im unsure on my ground wire

Was testing my ground with an old multimeter but not sure on the settings that it has as the ohms has different ones but only one moves. The setting that did work I saw 40ohms. I touched the metal and the negative but idk if thats where i need to test this.

Not being sure what you are trying to do or what you are picturing above, so here goes...

First you have one lead grounded to a painted piece of metal and I have no idea what the other end is connected to. If you want to find the resistance of say your negative ground cable, completely disconnect it from the vehicle, set the meter to ohms and place a lead on each end. Hopefully you get next to zero as that will indicate you have a good ground wire.

Measure voltage drop. Shouldn't be more then .3 volts while cranking.

Positive goes on the ground wherever it's at. Negative goes on the negative terminal.
Ah okay but which setting to do on the meter doesn't just have an ohms setting
To get a more accurate ohm reading on an analog meter, you need to zero the meter first. Before you start measuring anything on the car, touch the black and red leads firmly together. The reading should be zero. If not, adjust the red “Ohms adjust” dial until it reads zero. If you can’t get it to zero, you might have dirt or corrosion in the lead jacks or a low battery in the meter.

On your meter, X1.
Then read the top scale.
Problem with measuring ohms. There's really no spec. It varies depending on length of cable. And unless you got corrosion. You'll get a good reading.

I'd buy a digital meter. You get a more clearer reading. Harborfreight has em cheap.

I was wanting to test it cause I read recently on the radio resets and the stabitrac but hasn't happened in a while plus I have no idea if it's ever been replaced but I'll get to it and see what I find out. What I had on picture was red on metal and black on negative.
So I disconnected the negative from battery found the 0 by touching both ends touched both end from cable to battery just goes past 0 or to the right. The only thing I get from disconnecting the negative is the driver window loses it calibration b3205
i just looked up the ground cable service post and saw this "the turn signal sound may not be heard" i just had this recently even though the radio is different i still had this so does this mean what i think it means?
Just went and replaced it. Also found out the manufacturer date was on 2012 so yeah was never replaced least I have peace of mind
