I have noticed that my radio AM/FM volume intermittently is not there on startup.By intermittent I mean not cutting in or out but just static when I start the car.Upon restart if I let it sit for 1/2 hour or so it will work like normal.I mentioned this to the dealership when I was in for the NOX recall and they couldn't get it to happen. They said there are no bulletins and the software is up to date. For them to do anything I have to show them when it happens.Just curious if anyone else has had this happen? I'll hopefully get it to them next time it happens.

What happens if you tune the radio? In my '89, every now and then on start up, the radio would show the right frequency, but was actually tuned somewhere else. By using the quick set button to go to another station and back, it was fine.

Sounds like an electrical gremlin. Most likely an issue with the radio itself.
I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the battery getting weak. I've heard about older cars that would lose their station presets when the battery voltage dropped too low during cranking.
