This maybe kinda random, but I was driving a co worker home from work and she kept calling my cruze a cobalt! ::facepalm:: guess the cobalt name lives on! Lol anyone else get there car miss called? Lol

My friend called my Cruze a Cobalt too! haha. But he did have a little too much to drink, so I'm not sure if he was just drunk or that's what he really thought it was.

I've had several say, "wow, this is a Chevy?" when I got it 2 years ago, but it has never been forsaken for one of those, thank goodness.

The response I get is "you get how many MPG, what is it, a hybrid?" when I tell them my lifetime average. Toyota has done an excellent job making Americans think you have to have a hybrid to get good fuel economy. No one's called it a Cobalt yet.

People have said they thought it was Lexus, bmw, vw and one guy even asked me where I plugged it in.

Never been called a cobalt but many have said Chevy's come up from the cavalier days.

I've had people call it a "Cruise" in text, or when I say "the Cruze" people think I'm talking about the cruise control on my car. A couple people just to tease me call it a Cavalier or a Cobalt. I think most people I know are actually aware of what it is though, hahah. Although everyone is surprised it's a Diesel.

When i debadged it, it became a Malibu. Most people are aware what a Cruze is from all the stop sales and recalls blasted across the TV, but every now and then you get that person who is clueless. I say Cruze and they think PT Cruiser.

The 1st gen Cruze test mules were labeled next gen Cobalt by a few sites until they started calling them Cruze. If you think that was weird, take a look at this link.

If a rose was called by any other name, wouldn't it smell just as sweet? So much for names, with the Cruze, in the compact class of Chevy names.

Last 50 years, for compact class cars, can be called the Chevelle, Chevair, Celebrity, Cavalier, Cobalt, or the Cruze now.


None of these names specifically point out these are the compact cars. Just names thought up by some overpaid executive, could fire him, pass the savings to the consumers, and just call if a Chevy Compact. Ha, has a nice ring to it.

But when it hits illiterate sales, will probably call it a Chevy Compack, they can't spell. Like the Cruze, should be Cruise.

Ha, getting high paychecks for the inability to spell correctly.

Seen some cool vehicles in Italy, but with no names on it, just some kind of icon, avatar, or symbol. So where is the Chevrolet name on our cars? Also just uses a symbol. Going back to the Egyptian cryptographic day.

I do remember seeing that little Chevy Aveo looking hatch on Wikipedia for the Cruze and all it's names. The Cruze also replaced a Daewoo. Some companies try and use a different name for a different country. Dodge Neon became the SX 2.0 and the Subaru Legacy became Subaru Liberty.

Hopefully a V6 - the 4 cylinder automatic was miserable.
