Original Post:

Today I thought I would get off the fence and start a build thread. I apologize, as I have never documented any of my mods previously so, I do not have many pictures. Before I get into my my current mods, I'd like to talk a little bit about my work space. I've heard a lot of people on this forum let a lack of space or a "shop" area detour them from performing moderate/significant modifications to their vehicles. I live in the second story of a duplex home in the city. For those in a similar environment, I wanted to let you know that it can be done. My workspace a concrete pad where a garage once sat.

Was it the windings or the Bendix?
No idea - the solenoid looks gross:

Did you try just replacing the solenoid? Cheaper than a complete starter.

Nope - but I was able to get a completely new - not reman - starter for $70 shipped, so I went that route.

I can always swap the solenoid on mine, but in the end, it's still a 40 year old starter.

UPDATE:

Today, I bought my first ever part from BNR. I bought their intake manifold spacer because I need to move my fuel rail about an inch further away from the head for clearance. I guess it's supposed to do other things. But, I'm not convinced. It's shiney though.

Will probably help move your power band up, similar to a high-rise intake on a V8.

Dont quote me on that, though.
What does the oem intake do on the exhaust side??

I'm assuming you are referring to the camshafts. It increases the duration that the exhaust valve is open, and to a lesser extent, increases lift of the exhaust valve.
Hey have you ever got your custom ordered lettering in? I went by the junk yard a while ago looking for a S and got one, but a size to small.

I did. I got it at the beginning of winter. It's still in the box. I'm planning to put it on once I get the car back on the ground.

To me it seems as if the main purpose is to increase the capacity of the intake manifold similar to the Racer X manifold. And of course, it is shiny ain't it?

Yes it is shiny; However on a forced induction engine, the intake manifold's volume is not as important as its internal shape and runner length. Which the spacer does add runner length.

So the oem intake cam can be swapped over? Any mods needed for this?

What are the benefits of it?

Also didnt notice in your post but is your car stick or auto?

Yes. They are physically interchangeable.

In order to get any benefit from it, the turbocharger will need to be upgraded along with the appropriate support modifications.

The transmission is the 6T40 (automatic).
Ah, thanks for the info on the cams. Might do that eventually if i get my cruze to a reliable point lol
UPDATE:
I wanted to provide an update for the record. I seem to remember at one point @Blasirl asked if the BNR Intake Manifold Spacer was compatible with the RacerX Intake Manifold and didn't receive a response. The BNR spacer is compatible with the RacerX manifold with some installation modifications, listed below:

1. The bolts that are supplied with the spacer will not work with the RacerX manifold. They are too long (75mm) and have too long of bolt shank (38mm) to be able to shorten them. I replaced them with (6) M8-1.25 x 50mm bolts with a 25mm bolt shank.

2. The BNR spacer's PCV chamber does not match the RacerX PCV passage. There are 2 simple ways to rectify this. I plugged the PCV passages and vented the crankcase gasses directly into the atmosphere. Obviously, not everyone has the setup to do that. The other option is to create a seal using gasket maker on the PCV chamber where the BNR spacer meets the RacerX manifold.

UPDATE:
My parts came back from RacerX. Radium ended up sending me a new fitting. I got everything assembled and installed the assembly in the car.

UPDATE:
I fired the Cruze up today. No fuel leaks.
2 minutes in and I think to myself, what's that smell? I look under the hood and oil is pouring out of the turbo food hole in the block. I'm not sure how the fitting came loose, but it did.
It looks like I only lost a quart of oil or so.
Other than that the car runs great. I couldn't be happier.

Reminds me of when my buddy put his Subaru back together, started it and watched a geyser of oil shoot straight up out of the engine. Subaru head gaskets car very easily be installed backwards and if you do that, it doesn't surround an oil passage. :ROFLMAO:
