I had that code on my 2014 Cruze TD a few weeks ago, a mouse chewed a hole in a vacuum line. Don't fret yet.
Is it down on power? That code can mean other things, not just the turbo.Hey guys, just bought a used 2011 Cruze Eco with 6spd manual this past weekend. Car has 130k miles on it. Wasn't worried about it since I read on here it has a timing chain. Test drove it and it drove great so we bought it. Wife needed a car with better fuel mileage and I wanted a car that was fun to drive. Car seemed perfect. On the drive home check engine light came on, wasnt worried about it as our other car has a light on for a gas cap. Thought I'll just get it checked out soon. Went to autoparts store yesterday and they checked the code, P0299. I need a new turbo apparently. What a great welcome to the life of Cruze ownership.
Anyways, I'm sure I'll be on here posting more when it comes time to swap the turbo assembly. Just saying hi!
Yes - that's a normal powerband for a 1.4 manual. Clear the code and see if it comes back. Look for a busted intercooler, loose intercooler hoses, etc.Well, Not sure exactly how much power these cars are supposed to feel like they have honestly. I seems to drive fine. Has no power around 1500 but picks up above 2000, seems normal for a turbocharged car.
Should just be able to delete it with a handheld scanner.Clear code by unplugging battery I assume?
Thanks for the responses guys. This forum is full of so much info on this car.
A lot depends on where you reside. One more thing, why is insurance so freaking expensive on this car? Its a 4 door 1.4L engine. I'm 39 years old with nothing on my record and pay $117 a month with my 30% off for bundling with our other car and RV.
exactly what I was thinking....iirc, my torqueApp tells me the days since the CEL was cleared. Chances are they cleared it and hoped it turn on down the road after it had sold.Sounds like the previous owner cleared the code so it wouldnt show on a test drive.............you may have some recourse in your State - "as is" doesnt mean you can hide a problem.
Wife is same age and also clean record. We are also with State Farm.A lot depends on where you reside.
Although I'm older and accident free (so far) with all my cars/life/home through State Farm, my 2012 ECO was only $520.00 a YEAR....NE Illinois.
This with '0' comp deductable and $50.00 damage deductable.........How is the wifes record?
