Every dealership is doing this, we badly need your 2004 and will give you top dollar of it.

Top dollar to them is the lowest book trade-in value times 0.5!

Of course they need vehicles, running around all over Wisconsin looking for deals on new stuff, dealers are loaded with new stuff, nobody can afford to buy them.

Ha, was chatting with our Walmart manager yesterday, most of their employees, whoops wrong word again, associates, are college graduates. They can't find a decent job any place, sure can't afford to buy a new vehicle working for Walmart or any other chain store.
We've gotten those notices for my wife's Cobalt she used to have - I'd love to have seen their faces if I went and brought the vehicle - which went 55 to 0 rather instantly - and said I accepted their deal.

When I get them for my Cobalt, I just laugh.

Our Cruze went more like 0 to 30 mph in an instant, but I feel its far more valuable as a parts car judging by what they want for replacement parts for these things, With these unibodies, seeing ton of parts for the Cruze plus other vehicle all over the internet.

Use to be when you added up all the parts cost, much cheaper to buy the parts because you had to provide the labor than buying an assembled unit. Just making a wild guess, but to buy all the parts to assemble a Cruze today, would be more in the neighborhood of a quarter of a million bucks.

Son is also getting these letters on his late 2015 Chrysler T&C that they badly need. If I may not be mistaken, 2015 was just one year ago, hardly had that vehicle for a year now. Probably offer him half of what he paid for his on a trade-in for a new one.

Talking about experience, we tested an offer on our 04 Cavalier in 08 with only 40K miles on it they badly needed, only offered 1,500 bucks for it.
Look on the bright side, at least we're not getting letters asking to buy our cars back?? Or is that a bad thing( think TDI owners).....

I also got the call today - "Have you driven the new 2016 Cruze. I replied, yes I have and the Cruze Product Manager was my copilot during my test drive. The salesman said all dealerships have one and I replied, "No, I mean the Chevrolet Product Manager for the entire Cruze line was the passenger and we discussed the improvements to the D2 based Cruze." The salesman asked me if I was interested in trading my 2012 and I politely told him no - I like my 2012 ECO."

With as many reports of this occurring as we're seeing I wonder if Chevy is putting pressure on dealerships to get the Gen 2s off the lots and into the hands of car owners.

I'm wondering if sales are getting a bit soft. The economy hasn't improved that much, and what direction the next president will take us seems to be a toss-up.

Here's a kicker. I sold my 2009 TDI to buy my Cruze and from reports that I'm hearing, previous owners will be getting $2500.

News reports say that IF you owned a 09-15 TDI , you can elect to return the car for its value at the day before news broke + X $$ . Or, you can keep the car, have the mods made and get $$ as well. Either way, VW is spending upwards of $15 B to resolve these issues. Either way, you'll be made whole ( or at least partially) by the settlement. Note that Judge has not yet signed off on settlement.

Sorry I changed title but I am still waiting for a call about my tranny. Got the call the tranny is in this morning and dropped it off. Now in a new Equinox Not sure I like the new car scent anymore. At least this one smells? 13 miles on it but it is free as long as I stay under 75 miles a day.

We bought our 15 Cruze Diesel then sold our 06 Jetta TDI and I think the market was soft and we did not get as much as I would have liked for the car due to the cheating scandal...

I've have yet to see a gen 2 Cruze in the wild. My local dealers have a lot of them sitting on there lots.
I still get calls asking if I'm interested selling my 2008 Chevy Cobalt I haven't owned for 4 years.

I saw one on I-65 heading north when we were going to Indy last Saturday.
