Letter from GM about potential steering problem

6537 Views 20 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Chevy Customer Care
Just got this today. I looked through the forum and didn't see any posts about it. The letter states that some 2013 Cruze's are having heavy steering after driving straightaways. Not a recall unless your car is doing this. My car has not done this. Reminds me a bit of the steering problems with the older Malibus.

Thanks Spaced...I did not see that. Didn't mean to waste anyone's time.
Not a waste, its always good to let people know about possible issues. I still have not gotten a letter, probably this week.

Just received this letter yesterday, framing it along with that other 150K mile/10year extended warranty with the water pump.

Both say, do not take your Cruze to your Chevy dealer unless you are having a problem.
I also had the letter last night when I got home from work which covers my 2011. If they keep this up I'll get 150,000 miles on this car for sure!
Maybe one day, we will receive a letter where everything is covered. Ha, dream on.

I have received both of these letters too. The most recent(steering)yesterday.
With the water pump letter I thought it was a scam with a GM look alike letter. I guess not with the info I see here.
What do we do? Do we have to "sign up" with GM to cover any problems in the future?
I have a 2013 1LT cruze.

Don't have to 'DO' anything just be aware if you do have problems in this area it should be covered without any money being shelled out.

Don't have to save a copy of the letter? I'm always leery about things like this.
Its based on your vin and mileage/age just like other warranty coverage.

Type in your VIN on my.chevrolet.com and it will show the service campaigns and extended warranty coverage applied to your car.

After a real long drive on a straight away, like 15 hours, my arms tend to get stiff. Not doing anything, just hanging unto the steering wheel.

Should I see my GM dealer about this?

Yeah you could, not sure what they would do besides take a long Dora the explorer pause. You might get the guy who semi takes it serious and tells you to extend the arm rest, telescope the wheel as close to you as you can and get you a little bit closer/higher seating position.

Chevy motorhome is this way, steering wheel is far more horizontal then vertical. Suppose if they put an airbag it in, would knock a hole in the roof rather than knocking my head off.

What interstate isn't boring? Practically all have mileage signs that only increment or decrement by one mile depending on what direction you are headed. Then reflector posts every 200 feet, should be 26 per mile, but sometime hit 25 or 27 that makes you wonder why.

Ha, back in the 50's had Burma Shave road signs to get a chuckle, like these.

Only way a cop could give you a ticket was to tail you, if you were that dumb to speed with a cop on your tail, deserved that ticket. Before the days of radar and traffic cams.

Practically everybody was driving 80-85 mph back then, you don't get bored driving at 80-85 mph, sure do at 55.

Only if your dealer has a Chiropractor on staff.
got a letter as well with my 2012. I HAD the problem but whatever bur gets into the gearing must have fallen out. Still going to take it in and have it check out though.

Hello Goinovr,

If you need any assistance into the dealership, feel free to send me a private message along with some info. I look forward to the outcome at the dealership when you decide to bring it in.
