Hey y'all. I'm Matt and I looking at a 2012 Cruze LT. I like the look of the car and I had on as a rental and it seemed good.
I've read quite a bit of reviews on the car and many don't bode well for it. A lot of issues w/ the engine, turbo, and tranny. Some electrical and brake issues too.

I found on at a dealership in Columbia for $6k. It has 170k miles it, but it has a newer engine in it w/ 60k on it. The old engine supposedly went out because the owners used the wrong coolant in it. The day I went to check it out, it was having overheating problems. They installed a new coolant res and new radiator. I finally got to test drive it today and it seemed pretty solid.

Things I noticed though.
- Cracked windshield
- A bit of hard shifting
- Radio not working
- Fan stays on
- Engine seems to not be in final gear at 40mph
- Weird noise when driving
- Glove box comes completely open

Video I took today during the test drive trying to record the whirring noise that I heard:

What do y'all think? Yay or nay?

Normally the 2012s are pretty solid. However, with the list you have on that one I'd look elsewhere.

Add to your list a Check Engine light and a Service Air Bag light. I also see some added LED lights on the front. While the option might be desirable, you've got no clue as to the quality of workmanship.

Yes, Cruzes do have their issues, but they can be rehabbed. But this isn't fitting the pattern of usual troubles.

I say run, don't walk away from this.

This car was used and abused, don't touch it! Maintenance history and the previous owner's care are more important on a used car than the brand. Look for something that was well taken care of, and it will be more likely to take care of you!

Welcome! Like the others have said, I'd run from this one and keep searching! There are plenty of unmolested ones to be had!

Looking at the photos, i'm not sure you are being given the whole story on that car. The hood isn't sitting on the car right and there is only one window vent. I think the car has been wrecked as well.

You can get a cruze with much less miles for about the same price. My 2012 1LT RS only bluebooks for about $7,800 with 85,000 miles and it has no mechanical issues. With the condition of the cruze your looking at I would only give them $1500.

Not to mention the Prestone jug in the back seat. It suggests it has a coolant leak. And I'm wondering why the bumper covers are white.

Generally speaking, anytime someone sells a car that "needs work", they're counting on you underestimating the cost of fixing it. Otherwise, they'd fix it and sell at a higher price that would more than cover the repair work.

Check out the panel gap on the trunk.

I'm with everyone else, run from this one.
