So today I was driving under heavy acceleration and my bpv release pressure before I let off the throttle. Now I can only pull 6.5 lbs of boost It sounds like the bpv is stuck open or something and not allowing the car to build boost. Is this my bpv or is my turbo messed up. I am Trifecta tuned, k&n intake and catless. Car is a 2013 1.4 auto. Any ideas?

If you are Trifecta tuned, can you not set up some data-logging and have the tuner analyze it for you? They may see the problem in the data right away.

I'm curious to how you know it's the BPV and not the WG?

The BPV is the device that opens when you have let off the throttle and the positive pressure in the intake manifold needs to go somewhere (and not back out the compressor wheel of the turbo, causing damage). The WG (wastegate) is the actuated valve the controls how much exhaust is diverted around the turbo. The exhaust is what makes the turbo spool, so by controlling how much exhaust goes through it, we control the amount of boost the turbo makes.

It should be noted that the computer controls the WG on our cars (which is one of the biggest factors that makes the tunes on our cars worth so much), which is why I suggested that the tuners take a look before anything else. If the BPV was leaking (or any other boost leak) you would have a magnificent loss of power and almost assured CEL (check-engine light) because the computer wouldn't be able to regulate the fuel (the meter would be seeing a lot more air coming in than was making it to the cylinders and you would run obscenely rich).

OK so on my way home from work I got a p0234 turbocharger over boost. it was also making a louder than normal hissing sound while the turbo was spooling kinda like the sound you get with a blower attachment on an air compressor.

Sounds like a boost leak. Lots of culprits possible, but a likely one (and super easy/cheap) to check first is the PCV valve. Also a quick sanity check under the hood looking for any loose hoses/clamps can be easy to check off the list. Any competent shop should be able to do a boost leak check and find the leak rather quickly. Good luck!

Replaced pcv to no avail. Checked hose's and couldn't find anything loose. Any other thoughts? Otherwise I think I'll have to go back to stock to bring it to the dealer

Figured it out the hose for the waste gate solenoid was split had the same size hose at work replaced it and now everything works. I missed it before cause the split was on the bottom of the hose and I had to bend it a little bit to see it. Thanks for all the helpful replies I'm glad to have everything working again
