Hi - I have a UK spec 2.0 diesel (auto) Cruze LT VDCi

When I release the throttle on a downhill slope, it either smoothly holds speed, slows down smoothly, or really slowly accelerates, depending upon the amount of slope and my starting speed.

If however I set a constant speed on my cruise control, (say, 70mph) and then happen to go down a hill, instead of simply "releasing the throttle" like I do, it starts misfiring irregularly to hold the speed.

Is this, as I suspect, a crappy DoD system which is kicking in because the cruise control doesn't have control down to zero throttle? Or is there something wrong, or is it something else?

I noticed this when I had a dodgy ABS-sensor on one wheel, the same wire (perhaps the same sensor??) feeds the cruise control, and at times it would "hunt" quite noticeably, and only settle down when I clicked it up or down a couple of notches.

Since I've had the RH sensor and wiring replaced it's been fine.
